USA: bombing civilians is sometimes bad

Washington Post -- U.S. offers to share Syria intelligence on terrorists with Russia

The Obama administration has offered to help Russia improve its targeting of terrorist groups in Syria if Moscow will stop bombing civilians

That's great. To murder civilians is, well... murder.

Los Angeles Times -- White House to finally reveal civilian deaths from U.S. drone attacks

President Obama is expected to disclose as early as Friday that U.S. military and CIA drone strikes inadvertently have killed about 100 civilians since 2009 in countries where the United States is not officially at war, according to U.S. officials who were not authorized to speak publicly.

Hold on -- drone attacks killed about a hundred civilians since 2009? Why didn't we know about this?

Oh, yeah, right. Right. We did:

The Atlantic -- The Obama Administration's Drone-Strike Dissembling (Mar 14, 2016)

The notion that the Obama Administration has carried out drone strikes only when there is “near-certainty of no collateral damage” is easily disproved propaganda. America hasn’t killed a handful of innocents or a few dozen in the last 8 years. Credible, independent attempts to determine how many civilians the Obama administration has killed arrived at numbers in the hundreds or low thousands. And there is good reason to believe that they undercount the civilians killed.

"A few dozen", "about a hundred", "hundreds or low thousands"... Is this like the time "we tortured some folks"? How come we can blow up a person thousands of miles away and watch it in real-time but not keep a damned spreadsheet? At least the Nazi's rocked precision.

The Guardian -- 41 men targeted but 1,147 people killed (Nov 24, 2014)

A new analysis of the data available to the public about drone strikes, conducted by the human-rights group Reprieve, indicates that even when operators target specific individuals – the most focused effort of what Barack Obama calls “targeted killing” – they kill vastly more people than their targets, often needing to strike multiple times. Attempts to kill 41 men resulted in the deaths of an estimated 1,147 people, as of 24 November.

You need to break an egg to make an omelette and sometimes you just need to burn the fucking house down.
